Cowlitz 2 Fire & Rescue Deputy Fire Marshal Services

Cowlitz 2 Fire & Rescue holds a contract with Cowlitz County to perform code enforcement and fire investigations. Lt. Huff has been assigned the role of Deputy Fire Marshal, and is assisted in his responsibilities by Fire Inspector Thayer and part-time inspector FF Trotter. Lt. Huff reviews building permits and plans, and inspects new construction to ensure it complies with the building code as it applies to fire and life safety. Fire Inspector Thayer inspects existing commercial facilities and multi-family dwellings to assure that they continue to meet all applicable fire codes. Part-time inspector FF Trotter also conducts business inspections. Battalion Chief Graham can fill these roles when necessary.

Fire Investigations

Cowlitz 2 Fire & Rescue has six fully qualified fire investigators, and two trainees. Our investigators are assigned to fires to determine the cause and origin of the fire. Any further investigation into arson is conducted by the local law enforcement agency.

Fire investigation files are public record and, once complete, can be requested at our Headquarters Station during business hours. Click the Public Records Request link to the left for more information on those requests.
