Deputy Chief Greg Kelly is in charge of the Operations Section for our department. The Operations section is responsible for apparatus placement and deployment, line staffing, implementing long-term and short-term goals and objectives, and oversight of the day-to-day operational line activities for the entire department.

The Operations Section provides the mechanism to respond to any emergency dispatched by 911. These emergencies vary from emergency medical service calls, vehicle accidents, house fires, and water shut offs. Fire alarms, assisting police agencies and wildland urban interface fires are other areas that the Operations Section provides the necessary apparatus to respond and mitigate the emergency.

Our normal daily staffing is one fire engine and two ALS medic units. We currently operate our career crews out of two stations and on occasions out of other stations when staffing allows. We have volunteer crews at all stations which provide EMS and fire response.

C2FR personnel do much more than just fight fires and provide ambulance transport. They provide a wide variety of services within the community. Some of those services/duties include:

  • Participate in wildland deployments (usually in the summer months)

  • Go on non-emergency service calls such as assisting with flooded buildings and homes, water shut offs, etc.

  • Inspect commercial buildings to ensure they are in compliance with the fire code

  • Investigate suspicious fires alongside law enforcement agencies

  • Actively participate in public education events and teach classes such as fire extinguisher training, general fire safety, health and safety fairs, etc.

  • Prearranged fire station tours for groups, preschools, daycares, etc.

  • Blood pressure checks at staffed neighborhood fire stations
