Fire Protection Class Rating

5Cowlitz 2 Fire & Rescue is proud to offer our citizens the best possible services. Our current fire protection rating by the Washington Survey & Rating Bureau is as follows:

• 3 – Inside the city limits of Kelso.
• 3 – Outside the city limits of Kelso
       Within 5 miles of a fire station
       Within 1000′ of a fire hydrant
• 5 – Outside the city limits of Kelso
       Within 5 miles of a fire station
       No fire hydrant within 1000′ of the home.
• 5W – Inside our fire district
       5-7 miles from a fire station
       Supported by an established mobile water supply (fire department water trucks)
• 9A – Inside our fire district 
       More than 7 miles from a fire station
• 10 – Outside of the fire district’s jurisdiction (no fire protection)
