About Our Deputy Chief of Operations Position
Cowlitz 2 Fire & Rescue is a combination department with 60 paid employees and 40 volunteers. Our annual call volume is approximately 5,000 and our annual budget is $14 million. The Deputy Chief of Operations supervises three shifts each led by a Battalion Chief, our District shop, and oversees grant programs, contracts, and our records management system. The work schedule is typically Monday-Thursday 7:00 am to 5:30 pm in an office setting with an administrative staff of 12. The Deputy Chief of Operations works closely with the Deputy Chief of Planning and reports to the Fire Chief.
Minimum Requirements:
- Associate’s Degree (Bachelor’s Degree preferred)
- NIMS compliant
- Instructor qualifications
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Ablity to lead, train, and teach others
- Thorough knowledge of fire & emergency operations
- Valid Driver’s License
- Pass a drug screen, physical, background check, and psychological exam prior to hire
