Smoke Alarm Program
Cowlitz 2 Fire & Rescue has partnered with Safe Kids Lower Columbia to provide smoke alarms for our citizens.Â
If you own a home in our district, we can come to your home and do a fire safety inspection. We will evaluate your current smoke alarms and replace them if necessary, as well as offer fire safety tips and suggestions. Call us to request a visit. Visits are done by the on duty crew, and we cannot guarantee an appointment time.Â
If you rent a home in our district, your landlord is required to provide working smoke and carbon monoxide alarms in good condition and to replace them at the end of their manufacturer recommended life. Tenants are responsible for keeping the units clean and supplied with batteries. If your landlord is not providing you with functioning smoke alarms, we recommend you contact the Northwest Justice Project and ask for legal advice regarding the Landlord Tenant Act. We can provide you with a single smoke alarm until the problem is remedied, but you must come to our headquarters station during business hours to pick up the alarm and sign a waiver.Â
If you are deaf, hard of hearing, or have a family member who has to wear noise cancelling head phones for medical reasons, we have accessories for you! Give us a call to chat about your needs and how we can help!
